Ball in a cube- could someone teach me this trick?

On the cubes that have free floating parts, you sometimes need to make a well fitted parts to supprt the inner portions while the cube is cut free. Somewhere in my "stuff" I have some pictures of the tool a friend of mine used to make his ball in a cube. He started with a 1 inch cube.
